Which fuel is the body burning right now?

Fat or carbohydrate: the signal is present in exhaled breath. Reading it reliably outside a laboratory is the open question.

We are developing a breath analyzer that indicates, in real time, whether the body is drawing energy from fat or from carbohydrates. The programme is at prototype stage: sensor validation against clinical reference measurements, alongside user studies on how the reading is understood.

Validation

In lab testing, our sensor's raw voltage signal (orange) rose and fell in step with ketone levels measured from blood using a clinical-grade blood ketone meter (green) — across a full day of fasting, exercise, and meals. This close match is our strongest evidence yet that a simple breath sensor can track real-time metabolic state as reliably as a blood test.
